This breakthrough has led to the creation of Radio Free Ecto. A Shoutcast server has been set up at smoe.org, and since January 2, 1999 Vickie Mapes has been broadcasting all sorts of goodies for those of us who can tune in. As things here get more organized other ectophiles will be adding even more cool stuff to the mix. Keep an eye on this page for updates.
In the meantime, please check out Vickie's Suspended in Gaffa page to see what's playing right now. To listen in, set up your WinAmp to point to http://www2.smoe.org:8000/. There is a 10-user limit, so don't be discouraged if at any time you can't get in.
Usually while things are playing, Vickie and others who are tuned in can be found on the #ecto channel at EFnet. To join in, point the IRC client of your choice at an EFnet server (a complete list can be found at http://www.efnet.org), and then /join # ecto. If you're having technical difficulties, it might be good to check this channel first to get some help.
Up-to-the-minute news and information about the shoutcasts is posted to the ecto-announce mailing list, an adjunct entity to ecto. To join, send a note to majordomo@smoe.org with "subscribe ecto-announce" in the message body. Reply to the confirmation message you will receive, and you'll be on the list.
Enjoy!!!
